If you were picking four books for the next 10 years of your life what books would you choose to help you on your journey?

When I moved back to London in 2007 I unconsciously had a theme of four. Four suitcases were all I brought back and included were these four books.

Book 4: Kushiel's Dart

Kushiel’s Dart is a sci-fi fantasy by Jacqueline Carey. When I picked up Kushiel’s Dart I was immediately drawn in to the allegory of life, religion, pain, and love.

Life Lesson from Kushiel’s Dart:
You were born to be unique and that gift is what makes you

Business Lesson from Kushiel’s Dart:
Segment your customer/clients based on their needs.

Definitely for grown folks, read at your discretion.

Book 3: For colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf

For colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf by Ntozake Shange changed my life when I first read it. I wasn’t used to choreopoems or words written so rythmically. Each woman named by color represented what it meant to be alive, black and the complexities of being a woman.
For colored girls reminded about defining the type of woman I wanted to be.

Life lesson from For colored girls:
Choose your partner wisely

Business lesson from For Colored girls:
Your strategy should be a series of progressive steps.

Book 2: The Alchemist

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is one of my favourite books of all time. The Alchemist is a short read and follows Santiago, a young man who decides to pursue his dreams and with every decisive step forward, the universe conspires to support him. The Alchemist is beautifully written.

Life lesson from The Alchemist :
Universal principles exist whether you believe them or not

Business lesson from The Alchemist:
Your clients/customers may be global not local

Book 1: The Bible

That is the actual Bible I brought with me in the photo.
My world, my life, my business, my compass are founded on the principles in this book.

Life Lesson from The Bible:

Faith is the substance of things hope for and the evidence of things unseen

Business lesson from The Bible:

There is order by design
