The UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to make our world sustainable. Business has a vital role in achieving a sustainable world, so when I advise companies, I apply the SDGs in the business context and for them to explicitly achieve their commercial goals sustainably. Some people believe that approach is an oxymoron, but it isn't.

The image below is how I classify Economic Sustainability for business. The highlighted goals are integrated into my approach when advising. In my post about Social Sustainability, I mentioned that there is an overlap with Goal 10. This is because, for me, Supplier Diversity sits very squarely in Social and Economic Sustainability. Also, while there can be no Economic Sustainability without Gender Equality, I incorporate gender in reduced inequalities, Goal 10. Finally, while the Environment pillar will cover the majority of Goal 13, Climate Action, Economic Sustainability is an enabler for Climate Action.

My niche of expertise is social and economic Sustainability in business and the supply chain. Follow me if you are curious or want to stay up to date.
