I have never been in a corporate environment where everyone was surprised that an individual got fired (fair). It may have been a 'surprise' to the person but not to people in the team or those working closest with them. Not made redundant but fired.
Politics in corporate environments aren't implicit and are known for anyone operating at the leadership level; it's in part how they got to that position.
If you learned any lesson from Don Lemon and Tucker Carlson getting fired, one of them should be this:
Everyone is replaceable, so don't get caught slipping.
