In 2020, Vanessa Nakate, a climate activist from Uganda, posed for a picture after a press conference with her climate activist peers. AP Agency clearly thought there was an aesthetic better suited to climate activism and cropped Vanessa out of the photo.
Well, you can imagine how that went for them after the original photo went viral, and they were rightfully called out for it.
Fast forward to 2023, Vanessa is where she should have been from the beginning, headlining.
