This week, you may be bombarded with media coverage on COP. Some of your C-Suite leadership may send internal messages about going to COP or post about how delighted they are at COP.

Let me give a cliff notes version of what COP is.

Conference of the Parties (COP) is the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Convention on climate change. All parties to the convention are represented at the conference, and they are tasked with legal and vital decision-making on the agenda. Think about it like 'the' board on climate change. COP has been running since 1995, and the 28th location is in Dubai, which kicks off this Thursday, 30 November. H.E. Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber (pictured) is the President- Delegate for COP28 UAE.

The obvious question would be why leaders concerned with climate change are all hopping on planes to talk and agree on managing emissions.

Answer: focusing on climate doesn't mean you can't travel, irrespective of how oxymoronic it comes across.
